Abstract: È la mattina della mietitura che inaugura la decima edizione degli Hunger Games. A Capitol City, il diciottenne Coriolanus Snow si sta preparando con cura: è stato chiamato a partecipare ai Giochi in qualità di mentore e sa bene che questa potrebbe essere la sua unica possibilità di accedere alla gloria. La casata degli Snow, un tempo potente, sta attraversando la sua ora più buia. Il destino del buon nome degli Snow è nelle mani di Coriolanus: l'unica, esile, possibilità di riportarlo all'antico splendore risiede nella capacità del ragazzo di essere più affascinante, più persuasivo e più astuto dei suoi avversari e di condurre così il suo tributo alla vittoria. Sulla carta, però, tutto è contro di lui: non solo gli è stato assegnato il distretto più debole, il 12, ma in sorte gli è toccata la femmina della coppia di tributi. I destini dei due giovani, a questo punto, sono intrecciati in modo indissolubile. D'ora in avanti, ogni scelta di Coriolanus influenzerà inevitabilmente i possibili successi o insuccessi della ragazza. Dentro l'arena avrà luogo un duello all'ultimo sangue, ma fuori dall'arena Coriolanus inizierà a provare qualcosa per il suo tributo e sarà costretto a scegliere tra la necessità di seguire le regole e il desiderio di sopravvivere, costi quel che costi.

Abstract: It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to outcharm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He's been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined, every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute, and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.
