Die andere Grossmutter spinnt aus der Wolle feines Garn, während Pelle dafür die Kühe hütet. Für den Maler soll Pelle Terpentin besorgen, dafür darf er sich vom Rest des Geldes Farbe kaufen. Er färbt nun sein Garn selbst blau. Die Mutter webt feinen Stoff und Pelle hütet dafür sein Schwesterchen. Nun tritt noch der Schneidermeister in Erscheinung. Bis Pelle das Heu zusammen gerecht, die Schweine gefüttert und das Holz aufgeschichtet hat, ist der Schneider mit seinen Kleidern fertig. Am Sonntagmorgen bedankt sich Pelle bei seinem Lamm. Unseren Kindern, die oft nur fordern, wird auf feine Art gezeigt, dass man einen guten Dienst mit einem anderen "bezahlen" kann und dann beide Seiten glücklich sind. Vor fast hundert Jahren ist dieses Bilderbuch zum ersten Mal erschienen. Von seinem Zauber hat es nichts eingebüsst.
