Now with a young family, they divide their time between home educating their children, growing vegetables, looking after chickens and struggling to find time to write! About the Illustrator Ivy Trazsi is an international illustrator and fine artist working digitally, as well as with messy paints. Her style is joyfully dictated by bright colours and lots of textures from nature, combined with abstract elements. The foundation of her style lies in her rich childhood memories, travels and endless imagination. She grew up in a tiny village surrounded by wildlife. As a child, Ivy drew and painted on every the brick walls of her family home, snail shells, and once she even attempted to colour the wind. Later, Ivy moved away and lived in multiple countries but her love for nature and colours never changed. Together with her husband, they are raising their children with the intention of being curious and having an open mind for magical stories in their everyday lives. Abstract: L'histoire de deux êtres seuls aux petites habitudes similaires. Léon Pigeon ne parle pas. Tous les matins il part à la recherche de trouvailles dans les ordures de la quincaillerie, du garage et de l'épicerie. Les chemins de madame Mouette et de Léon Pigeon se croisent tous les jours dans le stationnement du casse-croûte. À force de rencontre, les deux êtres tissent des liens et partagent leurs rêves. Pierrette Dubé délaisse momentanément l'humour qui caractérise son oeuvre pour livrer un album sur la solitude et l'amitié. Un récit sensible et charmant sur deux laissés-pour-compte qui à force de partage découvriront un monde encore plus grand où leur rêve deviendra réalité. Jasmine Mirra Turcotte donne vie à ces personnages taciturnes avec beaucoup de délicatesse et un brin d’humour grâce à son trait tout en rondeur et un travail sur les couleurs chaleureux et minutieux.

Abstract: Water Love , a beautifully illustrated spoken word picture book, tells the story of Kaya, a young Black girl as she navigates her lifelong love of water amid the disapproval of her friends and despite her mother’s deep-seated fear of the water. Combatting stereotypes, Kaya joins an all-Black surfing program; in this program, as she begins to understand the larger struggles of the Black experience, she learns to love her “real” self and finds joy in expressing herself through her passion for surfing. Water Love was inspired by the North Preston Surf Program in Nova Scotia, an organization that works to encourage a stronger representation of Black people in water sports.

Professeurs, parents, employeurs, aucune autorité ne viendra se placer entre elle et son rêve : un cheval, un amoureux, ou vivre de sa passion pour le dessin. Son acharnement finira par payer, mais elle découvrira aussi en cours de route que, dans la vie comme dans les chemins chaotiques, vouloir foncer trop vite ça n’empêche pas toujours de tomber dans les trous.

Abstract: Lever de Terre raconte l’histoire de la première navette spatiale habitée qui a quitté l’orbite de la Terre pour voler vers la Lune. Mais c’est également l’histoire de la photo prise par Bill Anders pendant ce vol, en orbite autour de la Lune, alors qu’il admirait la Terre.Cette photo, nommée Lever de Terre et publiée dans tous les journaux et les magazines de l’époque, a eu une influence profonde dans le monde entier. En exposant clairement que la Terre n’a pas de réelles frontières et qu’elle est la demeure de tous, cette photo a contribué à l’avancement du mouvement environnemental et a insufflé de l’espoir en ces temps d’agitation mondiale.
