Abstract: Jules Verne scrisse romanzi di avventura di stampo scientifico, in cui crea storie di fantascienza. Dopo il successo del suo primo romanzo, Cinque settimane in pallone (1862), continuò a scrivere racconti fantastici d'avventura. 20.000 leghe sotto i mari fu pubblicato a puntate tra il 1869 e il 1870. Le sue descrizioni delle creature e dei paesaggi marini sono sorprendenti, così come lo sono le invenzioni che allora ancora non esistevano o che Verne migliorò con la sua fantasia, come i sottomarini elettrici e gli scafandri per le immersioni.
